Secure
sample bottles from the office. STERILE BOTTLES are
needed for samples submitted for complete and bacteriological analyses.
Clean plastic or glass bottles can be used for samples requiring Physical
and Chemical analyses only. The paper covering the neck and mouth of
the bottle should be removed only when sampling is about to be done.
Collect
sample from the targeted source. If sampling is to be done on a well,
spring, river or any other reservoir, the sample must be collected directly
into the sample bottle. If sampling is to be done from a faucet, pipe
or any other taps or attachments, flushing of the lines must be done
for a minimum of five minutes depending on the distance of the tap from
the main source.
FILL
THE SAMPLING BOTTLE UP TO THE NECK ONLY , leaving ample space
for mixing of the sample and respiration of the microorganisms.
Fill the data sheet supplied with the bottle completely. Indicate likewise
the type of examination/s requested (Complete, Physical-Chemical Analysis
only or Bacteriological Analyses only). SAMPLES WITH INCOMPLETE
DATA WILL NOT BE ANALYZED.
Submit the sample as soon as possible. THE TIME FROM COLLECTION
TO SUBMISSION OF THE SAMPLE MUST NOT EXCEED 6 HOURS. If delay
is inevitable, preservation with ice must be done. Preservation however
must be carried out in such a way that the water coming from melted
ice will not come in contact with the sample bottle to prevent contamination.
