ILOILO CITY

Iloilo City is the capital city of the province of Iloilo in the Philippines. It is the regional center and the main economic hub of the Western Visayas region. Based on the National Statistics Office (NSO) records, Iloilo City had populations of 151,266 in 1960 which steadily increased to 365,820 in 2000 for average annual growth rate of 2.23 %. There were 72,218 households in Iloilo City for the census year 2000. Population density was 5 persons per hectare. There are 5 persons occupying a household residence. The MIWD encompasses 6 sub-political districts of Iloilo City , to wit; Arevalo, City Proper, Jaro, La Paz, Mandurriao and Molo.

 

 
CABATUAN

Cabatuan lies at the heart of the Island of Panay. It is come 24 kilometers away from Iloilo City. Located on the west central part of the Province of Iloilo. It is bounded on the north by the Municipality of Janiuay, on the east of Maasin, on the northwest of Sta. Barbara and New Lucena, on the south Alimodian and San Miguel. All the aforementioned towns with exception of Alimodian are directly connected with roads from Cabatuan. Natural Resources: Good source of sand and gravel. Spring water located at Brgy. Anuan, Brgy. Jelicuon Montinola and SitioTingib at Brgy. Gines Patag.Major River: Tigum River.

Cabatuan had populations of 30,078 in 1960, which eventually increased to 45,935 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 1.06%. A single individual occupied an area of 1.86 hectares . The Poblacion, which comprise of 11 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 5, 675 with 1,103 households .Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 

 
LEGANES

Leganes is one of the nineteen coastal towns of the Province of Iloilo, located along Guimaras Strait, opposite the town of Buenavista in the Island-Province of Guimaras. It is adjacent to the City of Iloilo in the south, bounded by the Municipality of Pavia in the southeast, Sta. Barbara in the West and the Municipality of Zarraga in the North.

Leganes had populations of 9, 244 in 1960, which increased to 23,475 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 2.36%. Once a person occupied an area of 2.80 hectares. The Poblacion had a 2000 total population of 2,326 with 448 households . Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 

 
MAASIN

The Municipal of Maasin is located at the West central part of Iloilo Province, bounding the northern part by the Municipality of Janiuay, on the east by the Municipality of Cabatuan, on the by the Municipal of Alimodian and on the nonwestern by the mountain ranges of the province of Antique. The distance is 30 kms. from Iloilo City. It has a total land area of 17,110 hectares including the 6,150 hectares of watershed area.Dam site - Barangay Daja, built sometime in the late 1030's. This Dam catcher H2O in its 6,150 hectares resume area that MIWD supply water to Iloilo City by the Municipality of Cabatuan, Pavia, Sta. Barbara and Maasin.

The Municipality of Maasin had populations of 21,510 in 1960 that increased to 30,828 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 0.90& .An individual occupied an area of 4.98 hectares. The Poblacion, which consists of 4 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 11,555 with 2,245 households. Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 
PAVIA

Pavia is the Regional - Agro Industrial Center of Western Visayas as only of the components of the Panay-GuimarasNegros Agro-Industrial Area development Project (PAGNAIADP).
As of 1997 there are 38 manufacturing establishments operating in the are, producing various product such as poultry feeds, milled rice, farm implements, noodles, industrial and medical; gases, banana chips and sauce.

Pavia had populations of 11,258 in 1960, which increased to 32,824 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 2..71%. Population density was 1.28 persons per hectare. The Poblacion, which consists of 4 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 5,597 with 1,125 households. Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 
SAN MIGUEL

San Miguel is strategically located in the western portion of Iloilo Province. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Maasin and Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and Pavia on the Northeast: by the Municipality of Oton on the south, Iloilo City on the East; Alimodian on the West and Municipality of Leon and Tigbauan on the Southwest. San Miguel is seventeen (17) kilometers away from the City of Iloilo and it takes 25 minutes ride by car or private vehicles.

The Municipality of San Miguel had populations of 10,014 in 1960 that increased to 20,754 in 2000for average annual growth rate of 1.84%. A single individual occupied an area of 1.67 hectares. The Poblacion, which consists of 16 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 7,967 with 1,560 households. Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 
STA. BARBARA

Sta. Barbara is strategically located at the centermost of the province and with theDistance of 15.6 kms. away from the Iloilo City. Public transportation is not a problem in the locality. Interior PUJ’s, buses and PU’s are available and regularly going in and out of the town. Minimum fare of P2.00 for first 5 kilometers and P7.50 for direct fare from Iloilo City. Sta. Barbara Iloilo vice versa route public jeepneys are being park at Mabini St. in Iloilo City, while the space in front of the Public Market is being used.

MIWD Reservoir - Constructed in 1925. The first waterworks system reservoir in the Visayas and Mindanao. Tigum Irrigation Dam - Constructed in 1926. The oldest irrigation system in the country. Sta. Barbara had populations of 23,458 in 1960, which increased to 46,076 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 1.70%. One person occupied an area of 1.78 hectares. The Poblacion, which comprises of 6 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 8,147 with 1,574 households. Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.

 
OTON

The Municipality of Oton is a gateway to the Southern part of Iloilo. It is located 10.2 kilometers away from the City of Iloilo and only 7 kms. away from the airport of Mandurriao. It has also major road attachment as to permit greater accessibility to other places.

The town of Oton had populations of 27,246 in 1960 and increased to 65,374 in 2000 for an average annual growth rate of 2.21 %. One person occupied an area of 1.47 hectares . The Poblacion, which consists of 4 barangays had a year 2000 total population of 11,555 with 2,245 households. Average annual number of occupants per household was 5.
